Committed to finding solutions to the challenges small coffee producers face across the globe.
The Smallholder Project Fund addresses modest and critical challenges facing some of our smallholder coffee producers. The simple process of adding .05 per pound to the cost of designated coffee funds can have a profound impact on the farmer as well as the local community.
This project is launching late 2024 and is a collaboration with the Waingar Cluster Group in Papua New Guinea. During our sourcing trip to PNG earlier this year, we visited Waingar Village and noticed their commitment to producing quality coffee. However, the community faces substantial challenges. A lack of water access and proper shade presents hardships for both the community at large, and for processing coffee.
Not only did we commit to purchasing 100% of their 2024 harvest, but we will be using this new fund to help address their community’s challenge.
2025 UPDATE: Waingar Village successfully launched their new water pump and reservoir system. Photos have been added to the gallery to show their new functional system!
