wholesaling order formextending the “line” to your store or business…
if your store or business serves or sells coffee to retail customers, please make every effort to find a local roaster who loves coffee and quality. there are so many opportunities along the “line” for even high-quality coffees to miss their potential. if you haven’t found that local roaster and achieved a great relationship, review the characteristics that define one line coffee and give us a call, or email if you think we should talk!
coffee
with the exception of our espresso blends, we focus exclusively on origin coffees. we are all about finding great coffees and sharing the story of the farmer or co-op that produces the coffee. in addition, the roaster skills required to achieve fantastic origin coffees are very different from those related to blends.
we are a “fair trade™” certified roaster. many of our coffees are acquired from growers and importers who are also members of the fair trade™ organization in their respective countries.
one of our goals is to obtain pictures and detailed information about the grower/farmer when we select coffees for roasting (often by traveling there ourselves). we share that information on our web site and on the pouches of coffee we distribute.
we have completed our application to be certified as an “organic roaster” by the ohio ecological food and farm association. while we have been frequently purchasing “organic” beans, this certification approval will allow us to actually sell these coffees with the “organic” label.
services
we roast to order our retail and wholesale purchases each week from tuesday through friday. we always note the “roast date” on each bag so you know you are receiving the freshest coffee.
we cup our coffees many times during the production cycle (including quality assurance cuppings of finished product) to assure quality and consistency. we enjoy “hosting” our customers for special cuppings based upon appointment.
if your shop or business is located in central ohio, we are happy to review your brewing/production equipment and process to enhance quality. there is an hourly consulting fee associated with more extensive consultation that is eligible for an offset credit per pound if you purchase our one line coffee.
our web site offers special on-line ordering for our wholesale coffee partners or you can email your orders.
like fine wine, each coffee has its nuances of aroma, flavor and body. our roaster conducts frequent cuppings to be able to capture and document these attributes. each pouch of our coffee contains a summary of those cupping notes so that customers can have the kind of information that supports educated purchasing.
we encourage our one line coffee partners to promote their store or business on our web site. select the “coffee partners” tab on our home page to see information about our current partners.
our coffee pricing system is designed to support our commitment to transparency in our industry. each 5 pound bag and 12 ounce pouch of coffee is wholesale-priced based upon the price we pay for that green coffee (plus freight) and a consistent mark-up to cover our costs of operation, packaging and a small return on our investment.
having our roaster maintain a membership in the roasters guild of america sponsored by the specialty coffee association of america provides a great opportunity for our roaster to network and learn about coffee and about quality roasting.
periodically, we prepare special one line coffee counter-top signs and wall posters to help you emphasize the quality and origins of the coffee you serve. ask us about receiving copies of these materials.
we provide free delivery in central ohio with no minimums.
values
all of the members of the “one line” make a commitment to coffee quality. as a roaster, we make that solemn commitment to our farmers and to our customers. If you join the line, we ask that you make that same commitment to maintaining fresh stock, and grinding, brewing and serving with quality equipment and standards.
our company and its staff all embrace twin passions of coffee and community. For us, community is the local place where our coffee is prepared and served…but it is also the local place where the coffee is grown and harvested. taking care of those communities…making those communities better places to live and work…that is our work mission.
we are still learning about coffee…and we do everything we can to make sure that our wholesale and retail customers are provided opportunities to learn about coffee in all its complexities, and about the long road from seed to cup.
